Light therapy for athletes in Tulsa
Can I overdo the therapy and have too many sessions?

20 minutes a day is the maximum recommended time for this therapy. Sessions need to be at least 24 hours apart, optimally 48 hours between sessions, ideally 3 to 5 times per week until you achieve the desired results. Thereafter this can be reduced down to 1 to 2 times per week for ‘maintenance’. If you schedule more than 7 sessions a week, you may reduce the treatment’s effectiveness, which is the only negative result from ‘overdoing’ the therapy.

While an hour session is not dangerous, one hour is too long for this therapy. 20 minutes each day is the maximum length of time recommended for any of our light therapies to receive the maximum benefits.

No, our light therapy beds do not emit UV light. That means they will not cause tanning or sunburn. Individuals with fair skin may notice results more quickly, but this treatment is safe for all skin types.

The wavelengths used in photobiomodulation (PBM) are non-ionizing, meaning they do not damage the skin or create harmful free radicals like UV light does. Instead, PBM light actually works to neutralize free radicals, supporting your body’s natural healing processes without the risks associated with UV exposure.

There is no research that indicates that red light, the light frequency used for PBM, causes skin cancer. This is primarily because it does not tan the skin.

Yes, we have staff available from 8 am to 4 pm to ask questions about your current health problems and goals and help guide you to appropriate Red Light Therapy protocols.

Red Light Therapy is not yet covered by insurance in the USA.

What is the difference between your light bed and a tanning sun bed?

We use specific wavelengths of light that are very different from those used in tanning beds. Our devices operate at 635nm, 810nm, 940nm, and 980nm—none of which fall within the ultraviolet (UV) range. For comparison, UVA light ranges from 315 to 400nm, UVB from 290 to 320nm, and UVC from 100 to 280nm. These UV wavelengths are what cause tanning and can also damage the skin.

Feel free to bring water if you wish. We have free bottled water available on-site.  Your cells will absorb more healing light if you are well hydrated.

We suggest wearing something easy to get in and out.  When you enter a pod you will be required to remove your clothing. For a Firefly treatment we will need to expose your midsection, shinbones, plus any area in which you may be experiencing pain.

No,  you do not have to remove your jewelry. The light will not cause metals to get hot.

We do not provide medical advice (please refer to our medical disclaimer). We only provide advice on the use of Red Light Therapy and how to get the best results from our equipment.

The minimum age for the Firefly is five years old and the minimum age for the pods is 14.  Anyone under age 18 needs parental consent to receive treatment.

We do not recommend treatments during pregnancy or active cancer. There have not been sufficient studies to show if Red Light Therapy is safe or beneficial during pregnancy or for persons with cancer.
